Camp Coach – Brett Kearns

Brett Kearns is entering his fourth year as an Aim High staff member and is the co-director of summer session II and the Pre-season program. Coach Kearns currently serves as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Roger Williams University. Prior to joining Roger Williams, he served four years at La Salle Academy as both the Boys’ Head Freshman and Junior Varsity Basketball Coach. In 2006 Coach Kearns led the La Salle Freshman team to an undefeated State Championship season; in 2007-2008 he led the Junior Varsity squad to a 22-3 record. He compiled an overall 51-16 record in three years as a head coach. Coach Kearns graduated from Roger Williams University in 2008 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and is currently in the process of acquiring teacher certification in the state of Rhode Island.

Camp Director – Alex Butler

Alex Butler is entering his 9th year as an Aim High staff member and is the director of summer session one. Coach Butler has had an extensive coaching experience at both the high school and collegiate levels in addition to his illustrious career at both the high school and college levels. Coach Butler is in his fifth season as the Head Boys’ Basketball Coach at East Providence High School, where he starred as an all-state selection. At Rhode Island College he was a two time All American, earning those honors for the 1995 - 1996 and the 1996 - 1997 seasons. He was a Little East Conference’s Player of the Year and named first team all conference from 1994 - 1997. Butler was the Little East Conference Rookie of the year as a freshman in the 1993 - 1994 seasons. He finished with a total of 2,398 points, leaving him second on RIC’s all-time scorer’s list. Coach Butler was inducted to the Rhode Island College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2003. At the conclusion of his career Coach Bulter served as an assistant men’s basketball coach for Rhode Island College from 1998-2001. Coach Butler holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical & Health Education and is currently a teacher in the East Providence School Department.

Richard Smalls – Strength and Conditioning Coach

Richard Smalls is entering his fifth year as an Aim High staff member and coordinates the camp’s strength and conditioning program. Coach Smalls currently serves as an assistant football coach at East Providence High School working as the team’s defensive coordinator, in addition to his duties as the Head Coach of the Junior Varsity team. After graduating from East Providence, Coach Smalls went on to play four years at the University of Rhode Island. Coach Smalls graduated from URI with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical and Health Education and currently teaches in the East Providence School Department.
